goddi, it really is a difficult situation this one.
they are overhauling the whole WFD world at present – and looking at fulltime for 10 months for people like ourselves (they say changes will be from July 1st – but more like August). There is another option tho’ before they make you plaster the walls of the frankston park dunnies. You can request to do a one-to-one work experience situation with a registered agency – this could be somthign like FOE or Big West or other such place where ypou’d have a better chance of someone ’signing your document and letting you on your way’ The trick is to ask your Job Network person to assist you in this before they are forced to put in you in a WFD program.!

It is a horrible worlkd that Howard is making us live in – soon we will be exposed – as artists – oh my gard!!! if you have any luck iin this tell me – i too am facing the big chop.

the volunteering thing i mentioned is called a ‘community work placement’. You do it with a ‘community organsiation’ – the only requirement is that they are not-for-profit and have public liability (those orgs i mentioned before and a bunch of others will fit this bill – such as Dancehouse or Ceres etc) Best to find out when you are required to do work for the dole next and then get in before they start you on it (you’re required to do it every 6 months.

…hey hello there y’all…soo sorry …and sincere apologies for my absence… what i thought was last monday…working for the man…only to find out wednesday evening by voice mail it was tuesdee!!!…which WAS the 13th!!!… o! oh…ooh…ooohh… my poor head…was soo looking forward to it!…anyways…after that “make it new!” forum at the malthouse (post our last meeting) i thought it was poignant when mr” john bearded australia council man who’s surname escapes me” pointed out the ozco’s need to lobby the federal government for funds and i have been thinking for a long time now …why are “artists” not mobilized in this practice in order to get a bigger cut of the pie, but also widening the potential s(ie existence) by rallying in “solidarity” with all the other communities who have been declared war on by this particular “divide and conquer” government under the guise of “reform” for insert your socio-economic demographic here -the workforce or welfare ( and their sub-genres)-whatever…is it because of the nostalgic-romantic tradition (or is that convention?) in the mythical “solitary artist” which i totally identify with and all the self-absorption that entails…i might already know the answer to that…however i have a dream like some deluded…meek… martin luther king of walking into a “job network agency” who employs not work placement fascists (whose occupational desire is (ironically!…-or is that moronically?…like this…) to help other people get a job!!!) but experienced, inspiring, other-wise under employed multi-disciplinary artists who assist in the implementation of creative programs for development in an endeavour to cultivate a culture of diverse on-going artistic projects that enact both social and personal fulfillment…can dream right? (“it is only natural” in the immortal words of neil finn in his crowded house)…couldn’t it be what the proposal implies?!!!?… urrrrgggghhhhh…!!!…!…i am ranting now…i will save it for elsewhere…or (t)here…till next time…
